How to initiate a recording of a WebEx meeting and download the video. Additionally, how to use WebEx as a video recording tool for completing video presentation assignments.

Cisco WebEx Meetings is available to all students, faculty, and staff at NSU. Our paid services from WebEx have benefits like global call-in capability, accountability and details for time spent, higher quality of service, and greater safety and isolation from intruders. It's available for PC or Mac, through web browsers, and mobile devices from theĀ Apple App Store or Google Play. Rather than using free Internet services, WebEx should be used for all video teleconferencing needs at NSU. To get started with a new meeting, see our instructions here: Set up or join a meeting in Cisco WebEx Meetings.

Recording a meeting already in session

The organizer of a meeting (or 'owner' of a personal meeting room) may initiate recording of the meeting. During a meeting, use the recording control:

Clicking Record will start the recording. Click the record control again to see the elapsed time and the controls to stop or pause the recording.

After the meeting is over or the recording is stopped, the best way for the organizer to find the meeting recording is by accessing the WebEx web portal at nsula.webex.com, then navigate to Recordings:

You may find it still says Generating... shortly after the recording is done. It may take some time to finish generating. Refresh the page to see if it has completed. The downloaded .mp4 file can be uploaded to Microsoft Stream or elsewhere.

Using WebEx as a video recording tool

In scenarios where you need to record a video and upload it as a .mp4 file, your WebEx personal meeting room is a convenient way to do so.

Navigate to nsula.webex.com in your web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge) and locate the sign-in button at the top-right.

Provide your NSU email address at the next screen. Follow any further login prompts. Then, connect to your personal meeting room as displayed in the homepage:

Others can join your personal room by giving them the nsula.webex.com/meet/ link which shows your username.

A screen to change your microphone and camera settings should appear.

After clicking Start meeting, you'll be connected to the meeting. To prevent any intrusion during the recording, use the Lock meeting control:

Then, continue to follow the steps in the first section of this article to record your personal meeting room. Download the video from the Recordings page shown above, and upload it to a myNSU assignment or Microsoft Stream as necessary.
